Archbishop Simon Sudbury was a prominent church leader and diplomat in England during the late 14th century. Serving as Archbishop of Canterbury and Lord Treasurer, he played a key role in government and religious affairs. Known for his administrative skill, he sought to reform taxation and manage royal finances. During the upheaval of the Peasants’ Revolt in 1381, Sudbury was captured and tragically murdered by rebels angry at heavy taxation and social injustice.
