arbitrations and mediations

Arbitration and mediation are two forms of alternative dispute resolution used to settle conflicts outside of court. In arbitration, a neutral third party, known as an arbitrator, hears both sides of a dispute and makes a binding decision, similar to a judge. Mediation involves a mediator who facilitates discussions between parties to help them reach a mutually acceptable agreement, but the mediator does not make decisions. Both methods are generally faster and less formal than court cases, promoting cooperation and often saving time and legal costs.
