Arbitrary Marks
Arbitrary marks are logos, symbols, or brand identifiers that are unique and not directly descriptive of the products or services they represent. Unlike generic or descriptive marks, which may directly describe a product's features, arbitrary marks use familiar words or symbols in an unrelated way, making them distinctive and easier to protect legally. For example, "Apple" for computers is arbitrary because the word has no direct connection to technology. They are valuable in branding because their uniqueness helps prevent consumer confusion and strengthens trademark rights.
