Arbeiter-Sportbewegung

The Arbeiter-Sportbewegung, or Workers' Sports Movement, was a sports and physical culture movement active mainly in early 20th-century Germany and Austria. It aimed to promote physical activity among the working class as a way to improve health, foster solidarity, and support social and political ideals like socialism and workers' rights. Unlike mainstream sports organizations, it emphasized collective participation, education, and social reform, often intersecting with labor movements and political activism. The movement sought to empower workers physically and socially, viewing sports as a means to enhance community cohesion and challenge prevailing class inequalities.
