Aratus

Aratus was an ancient Greek poet from Cilicia (modern-day Turkey) who lived around 315–240 BCE. He is best known for his didactic poem, *Phaenomena*, which describes the constellations, weather signs, and celestial phenomena, translating complex astronomical observations into poetic form. His work served as a guide for sailors and farmers, helping them navigate and anticipate weather patterns. While he wasn’t an astronomer himself, his poetry made astronomical knowledge accessible and inspirational in the Greek world, influencing later scientific and poetic traditions.
