Arakan Campaign
The Arakan Campaign was a military operation during World War II in 1944–1945, conducted by Allied forces, primarily British and Indian troops, to defeat Japanese and Indian Army units occupying the Arakan region (now Rakhine State, Myanmar). The goal was to retake territory and secure lines of communication, ultimately aiming to push the Japanese southward and weaken their hold in Burma. The campaign was challenging due to difficult terrain, jungle warfare, and strong Japanese defenses. Its success helped pave the way for the larger Allied effort to re-enter Burma and advance toward Southeast Asia.
