It requires specific growing conditions: cool temperatures, rich volcanic soil, and ample rainfall. Farmers plant coffee shrubs, which take about 3-4 years to produce beans. The beans are harvested when ripe, usually by hand, then processed to remove their outer layers. The beans are dried, sorted, and roasted to develop their flavor before being shipped globally.
