On April 27, 2011, a powerful tornado struck Alabama, part of a larger outbreak that produced multiple violent storms across the southeastern U.S. This EF4 tornado had winds estimated between 166-200 mph, causing severe destruction over a 22-mile path, including the cities of Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. It resulted in 65 fatalities and hundreds of injuries. The tornado dramatically impacted communities, destroying homes, businesses, and infrastructure, and highlighting the importance of severe weather preparedness and advanced warning systems in reducing loss of life and property.
