Appert Method
The Appert Method is a traditional food preservation technique developed by Nicolas Appert in the early 19th century. It involves placing food into glass jars, sealing them tightly, and then heating the jars to destroy bacteria and enzymes that cause spoilage. Once cooled, the airtight seal prevents new bacteria from entering, keeping the food safe and fresh for longer periods. This method is the basis for modern canning processes and is valued for its effectiveness in preserving fruits, vegetables, and other perishable foods without added preservatives.
