Apophis
Apophis is a near-Earth asteroid approximately 370 meters in diameter, discovered in 2004. It regularly passes close to our planet, with a notable approach predicted for 2029, when it will come within about 31,000 kilometers—closer than some satellites. Current observations suggest a very low chance of impact during that pass or in the foreseeable future, but scientists continue to monitor its orbit carefully. Apophis's size and proximity make it significant for planetary defense and studying asteroid behavior, helping us prepare for potential future threats.
