Apalachee

The Apalachee were a Native American people who lived in the Florida Panhandle, primarily along the Apalachee Bay. They thrived from around 1500 to the 1700s, building organized villages and practicing agriculture, hunting, and fishing. Known for their complex social structure and craftsmanship, they were engaged in trade with neighboring tribes and Europeans. The Apalachee played a significant role in regional history but experienced decline due to European contact, warfare, and disease. Today, their descendants are part of efforts to preserve their cultural heritage and history.
