aorta overriding
Overriding aorta is a heart condition where the major blood vessel called the aorta, which normally connects to the left ventricle, shifts positions and appears to originate from both the right and left ventricles. This means oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor blood may mix more than usual. Often associated with a condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, it causes the aorta to sit slightly above a hole between the heart’s lower chambers. This abnormal placement can lead to inefficient oxygen delivery throughout the body, requiring surgical correction to restore normal blood flow.
