ANZUS

ANZUS is a security treaty formed in 1951 between Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. It commits these countries to cooperate on defense and mutual security, particularly in the Pacific region. If one member is attacked, the others are obligated to consider it a serious matter and may come to each other's aid, although the treaty emphasizes consultation over automatic military response. ANZUS helps maintain stability and enhances collective security, reflecting shared interests in protecting the region from potential threats. It remains an important framework for the defense relationships among these countries today.
