Antonovsky's Sense of Coherence
Antonovsky's Sense of Coherence (SOC) is a psychological concept that describes how people view life and cope with stress. It has three components: comprehensibility (understanding events), manageability (believing they have resources to handle challenges), and meaningfulness (finding purpose in life's demands). A strong SOC helps individuals perceive stressful situations as understandable, manageable, and worthwhile, promoting resilience and better health. Essentially, it reflects a person's outlook on life’s challenges—whether they see them as understandable, solvable, and meaningful, which influences their ability to thrive despite difficulties.
