Antonio Meucci

Antonio Meucci was an Italian-born inventor who developed early ideas for voice communication technology in the 1850s. Recognizing the potential of transmitting voice signals, he created a device called the "telettrofono" to enable conversation over distances. Although he lacked the funds to patent his invention fully, Meucci's work laid important groundwork for the development of the telephone. In 2002, the U.S. Congress recognized his contributions by acknowledging him as an early inventor of the telephone, highlighting his role in the evolution of telecommunications.
