Anton's syndrome

Anton’s syndrome is a condition where individuals are blind due to brain damage but are unaware of their blindness. Despite losing their visual perception, they confidently believe they can see and may even create false visual experiences. This occurs because damage typically affects the occipital lobe, the part of the brain responsible for vision, and the areas that recognize and interpret visual information. The lack of awareness of blindness is called agnosia, and it reflects a disconnect between visual input and awareness, leading to a false perception of sight despite being physically blind.
