Antoine's original paper
Antoine's original paper, published in 1888, introduced a mathematical equation to describe how the vapor pressure of a substance changes with temperature. Vapor pressure is the pressure exerted by a gas in equilibrium with its liquid or solid form. Antoine proposed a simple formula with three parameters specific to each substance, allowing scientists to predict how much of a liquid will evaporate at different temperatures. This work significantly advanced the understanding of phase changes and is widely used in chemistry and engineering to calculate the conditions under which materials will change from liquid to gas.
