Antlion

An antlion is a beneficial insect known for its unique larval stage, during which it constructs small, cone-shaped pits in sandy soil to trap ants and other small insects. When prey wandering near the trap falls in, the larva quickly seizes and consumes it. Adult antlions resemble delicate dragonflies or damselflies but are generally less active and less predatory. Their behavior exemplifies a specialized predatory strategy, relying on patience and precise construction to catch food, making them important natural pest controllers in their ecosystems.
