antiviral

An antiviral is a medication designed to fight viruses, which are tiny infectious agents that invade our cells and cause illnesses like flu, HIV, or herpes. Unlike bacteria, viruses can't reproduce on their own, so antivirals work by interfering with the virus's ability to replicate and spread within the body. This helps reduce the severity and duration of the illness, or prevent it from worsening. While they don’t cure viral infections outright, antivirals are essential tools in managing and controlling many viral diseases.
