Antislavery Movement
The Antislavery Movement was a social effort primarily in the 18th and 19th centuries aimed at ending slavery and human trafficking. It involved activists, organizations, and governments working to abolish the legal and institutionalized practice of owning other people as property. The movement highlighted the moral, economic, and social injustices of slavery, advocating for human rights and equality. Its success led to the abolition of slavery in many countries, such as the UK in 1833 and the United States in 1865, fundamentally transforming societies and promoting the recognition of universal human dignity.
