Antimetabolite

Antimetabolites are drugs that interfere with the growth of cancer cells by mimicking natural substances the cells need to multiply. They trick the cells into taking them up, but once inside, they disrupt essential processes like DNA and RNA production, which are critical for cell division. Because cancer cells grow quickly, they are more affected by these drugs than normal cells. Antimetabolites are commonly used in cancer chemotherapy to slow or stop the progression of the disease by targeting the rapidly dividing cells.
