Antidumping
Antidumping refers to actions taken by a country to protect its domestic industries from unfair competition caused by foreign companies selling products at prices below their normal market value, often below production costs. This practice, known as dumping, can harm local businesses and jobs. To counteract this, governments may impose antidumping duties—additional taxes or tariffs—on imported goods to raise their price and level the playing field. These measures aim to prevent unfair pricing practices while still allowing international trade to occur fairly.
