anticyclones
An anticyclone is a weather system characterized by high atmospheric pressure at its center, leading to descending air that usually results in clear, stable weather conditions. As the air sinks, it suppresses cloud formation, often causing dry and sunny weather. Anticyclones rotate clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere. They typically bring settled weather and can last for several days. While they provide stable skies, prolonged anticyclones can sometimes lead to heatwaves or fog, depending on the season and location.
