Anticolonialism
Anticolonialism is a movement or ideology that opposes colonial rule and seeks independence for oppressed nations or peoples. It involves challenging foreign control, exploitation, and dominance, advocating for self-governance, cultural identity, and sovereignty. Often rooted in local history and identity, anticolonialism emerged during the 19th and 20th centuries as colonies worldwide fought for freedom from European, American, and other imperial powers. The movement encompasses political, social, and cultural efforts to restore autonomy, resist oppression, and redefine national identity outside of colonial influence.
