Anticholinergic Agents

Anticholinergic agents are medications that block the action of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine in the nervous system. These drugs are used to treat various conditions such as allergies, asthma, urinary incontinence, and certain muscle disorders. By inhibiting acetylcholine, they help reduce involuntary muscle movements, secretions, and other nerve signals. This can help ease symptoms like muscle spasms, overactive bladder, or excessive mucus production. However, because they affect nerve signals, they may also cause side effects like dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, and dizziness.
