Antibody-drug conjugate

An antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) is a targeted cancer therapy that combines an antibody with a powerful drug. The antibody acts like a guided missile, recognizing and binding to specific proteins on cancer cells. Once attached, the ADC delivers the drug directly into the cancer cell, causing it to die. This targeted approach aims to attack cancer cells while minimizing damage to healthy tissue, improving treatment effectiveness and reducing side effects. In essence, ADCs leverage the precision of the immune system's targeting with the potency of chemotherapy in a single, specialized treatment.
