antibiotic sensitivity testing
Antibiotic sensitivity testing determines which antibiotics effectively inhibit or kill bacteria causing an infection. A sample from the patient, like blood or tissue, is grown in a lab. Discs or strips with different antibiotics are placed on the bacteria's growth area. If bacteria are sensitive, they won’t grow near that antibiotic, creating a clear zone called an inhibition zone. The test helps doctors choose the most effective antibiotic for treatment, ensuring faster recovery and reducing the chance of antibiotic resistance.
