Anti-Submarine Warfare Techniques
Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) involves detecting, tracking, and neutralizing submarines to prevent them from threatening ships or coastal areas. Techniques include using sonar systems—both active (sending sound pulses) and passive (listening for sounds)—to locate submarines underwater. Surface ships, submarines, and aircraft may deploy specialized weapons like torpedoes and anti-submarine rockets. Additionally, using underwater listening devices called hydrophones, deploying underwater drones, and employing satellite and radar technology enhance detection. ASW aims to maintain maritime security by accurately finding and neutralizing submerged threats before they can act.
