Anti-Mandal protests

The Anti-Mandal protests in India, primarily in the early 1980s, were opposition protests against the implementation of the Mandal Commission's recommendations, which aimed to provide affirmative action for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in government jobs and education. Many upper-caste groups felt they would be disadvantaged by increased quotas. The protests reflected deep social and political tensions over caste-based affirmative action, leading to widespread demonstrations, violence, and debates about social justice, equality, and reservation policies in Indian society.
