Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH)

Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is a substance produced by developing ovarian follicles in women and by testicular cells in men. In women, AMH levels reflect the remaining egg supply or ovarian reserve, helping assess fertility potential. Higher levels generally indicate a larger supply of eggs, while lower levels may suggest diminished ovarian function. AMH testing is commonly used in fertility evaluations and to monitor ovarian aging. It remains relatively stable throughout the menstrual cycle, making it a reliable marker for ovarian health. In men, AMH plays a role in reproductive system development but is less commonly used clinically.
