Anti-La/ SSB Antibodies

Anti-La/SSB antibodies are proteins produced by the immune system that mistakenly target specific components called La or SSB proteins within the body. These antibodies are often associated with autoimmune conditions, particularly Sjögren's syndrome and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Their presence can help doctors diagnose these conditions, as they indicate an abnormal immune response. While they don't cause symptoms directly, their existence suggests that the immune system is attacking the body's own cells, leading to dry eyes, dry mouth, fatigue, and other issues related to autoimmune activity.
