Anthracycline analogs
Anthracycline analogs are modified versions of a class of chemotherapy drugs originally derived from natural substances. They are designed to better target and kill cancer cells by interfering with their DNA and stopping their growth. These analogs are developed to improve effectiveness while reducing side effects compared to earlier forms. Common examples include doxorubicin and epirubicin. They play a crucial role in treating various cancers, such as breast cancer and leukemia, by disrupting cancer cell reproduction and inducing cell death, thereby helping to control or eliminate tumors.
