Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion
Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) is a surgical procedure to treat neck pain caused by herniated or damaged discs in the cervical spine. The surgeon approaches from the front of the neck, removes the problematic disc to relieve pressure on nerves or the spinal cord, and then fuses the adjacent vertebrae together using a bone graft or implant. This fusion stabilizes the spine and helps prevent further nerve compression, aiming to reduce pain and restore neck function. Recovery typically involves some physical therapy, and most patients experience significant relief from symptoms.
