Anteater
An anteater is a mammal native to Central and South America, known for its specialized diet of ants and termites. It has a long, tube-shaped snout and an extendable, sticky tongue that can reach up to 2 feet to capture insects inside nests. Its powerful claws are used for breaking into termite mounds and ant hills, and it has a slow, deliberate gait. Despite its name, the giant anteater is the largest species, while smaller relatives like tamanduas are also part of the anteater family. They play a vital role in controlling insect populations in their ecosystems.
