ANTARES (the asteroid)
ANTARES (or 85370 Antares) is a large asteroid located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It measures approximately 10 kilometers (6 miles) across and has a dark surface composed mainly of carbon-rich materials. Like other asteroids, it is a remnant from the early solar system, providing insights into its formation. ANTARES has a somewhat elongated shape and rotates every few hours. Studying such asteroids helps scientists understand planetary formation, solar system evolution, and assess potential asteroid impact hazards on Earth. It is one of many celestial objects that continue to intrigue planetary scientists and astronomers.
