Ant-plant relations
Ant-plant relationships are mutual associations where both species benefit. Some plants provide ants with nectar, food, or shelter within their structures, such as hollow stems or specialized nectaries. In return, ants defend the plants from herbivores and help reduce competing plants or pests. These interactions can enhance plant survival and growth, creating a symbiosis that supports the health of both organisms. Such relationships are common in tropical and subtropical ecosystems and demonstrate how interdependence among species can lead to mutual advantages.
