Anoxic conditions

Anoxic conditions occur when there is little or no oxygen available in a specific environment, such as in water or soil. This lack of oxygen prevents most aerobic organisms from surviving or functioning properly. Anoxic environments can develop naturally, such as in deep-sea sediments, or as a result of human activities like pollution or excessive nutrient runoff that cause rapid growth of algae, which later decay and consume oxygen. These conditions can lead to changes in ecosystems, like dead zones where aquatic life cannot survive, and impact processes such as nutrient cycling and water quality.
