Anopheles

Anopheles is a genus of mosquitoes known for transmitting malaria, a serious parasitic disease. These mosquitoes are active mainly during dusk and dawn and breed in standing water. Females bite humans to obtain blood, which they need to develop their eggs. Not all Anopheles mosquitoes carry malaria, but those that do are the primary vectors spreading the parasite.
