An anode and a cathode are two key parts in electrical devices and circuits. The anode is the electrode where oxidation occurs, meaning it loses electrons, and it typically connects to the positive side of a power source. The cathode is the electrode where reduction happens, gaining electrons, and it usually connects to the negative side. In simple terms, the anode is where electricity flows out of a device, and the cathode is where it flows in.
