Annuals and Perennials

Annuals and perennials are two categories of flowering plants distinguished by their life cycle. Annuals complete their entire life cycle—from seed to flower, seed production, to death—in one growing season, typically lasting a year. They need to be replanted each year. Perennials, on the other hand, live multiple years. They bloom and grow for several seasons, often going dormant in winter and resuming growth in spring. Many perennials form a stable root system underground, allowing them to regrow annually. Choosing between them depends on garden space, maintenance preferences, and desired flowering schedules.
