Annexin V-PE
Annexin V-PE is a laboratory tool used to detect cells undergoing programmed cell death, known as apoptosis. It combines Annexin V, a protein that binds specifically to phosphatidylserine—a molecule that flips from the inside to the outside of the cell membrane during early apoptosis—with PE (phycoerythrin), a fluorescent dye. When applied to cells, Annexin V-PE binds to apoptotic cells and makes them glow under a special microscope or flow cytometer. This helps researchers identify and measure the extent of cell death in various biological samples or treatments.
