Annexin V-FITC

Annexin V-FITC is a laboratory tool used to detect cell death, specifically apoptosis (programmed cell death). Annexin V is a protein that binds strongly to phosphatidylserine, a molecule that shifts from the inside to the outer layer of the cell membrane early in apoptosis. The FITC (fluorescein isothiocyanate) is a fluorescent dye attached to Annexin V, allowing visualization under a special microscope or flow cytometer.
