Annelids
Annelids are a group of segmented worms, including earthworms, leeches, and marine worms, characterized by their long, cylindrical bodies divided into repeating segments. They have a true coelom (fluid-filled body cavity), a closed circulatory system, and specialized structures for movement and digestion. Annelids play important roles in ecosystems, such as aerating soil through earthworm activity and aiding in blood collection in leeches. Their segmented body plan provides flexibility and allows for efficient movement, detachment, and regeneration in some species. They are a diverse and vital part of many terrestrial and aquatic environments.
