Anna Coleman Ladd was a pioneering American artist and humanitarian known for her work helping World War I soldiers who suffered facial injuries. She designed and created realistic, custom prosthetic masks to improve their appearance and boost confidence. Ladd also helped develop techniques and materials for these masks, making them more comfortable and lifelike.
