Ankle fracture
An ankle fracture is a break or crack in one or more of the bones that make up the ankle joint, typically caused by twisting, falling, or direct impact. The ankle consists of three bones: the tibia, fibula, and talus. Symptoms often include pain, swelling, bruising, difficulty moving or bearing weight on the ankle, and sometimes deformity. Treatment depends on the severity; minor fractures may heal with immobilization and rest, while more complex breaks might require surgery to realign the bones and secure them with screws or plates. Proper care is essential for healing and restoring ankle function.
