Ankiya Nat
Ankiya Nat is a traditional Assamese theatrical form that combines drama, music, dance, and poetry to depict religious stories and moral lessons, primarily focused on the life of Lord Vishnu and his incarnations. Originating in Assam, it is performed mainly during the Vaishnavite festival of Raas and emphasizes devotional themes through lively performances on a specially designed stage called a “bhaw.” Ankiya Nat aims to educate and inspire spiritual devotion while preserving cultural heritage. Its performances involve expressive acting, vibrant costumes, and rhythmic music, making it a unique and important part of Assamese cultural and religious expression.
