Anglo-Nepalese War

The Anglo-Nepalese War (1814-1816) was fought between the British East India Company and the Kingdom of Nepal. Nepalese soldiers, known as Gorkhas, fiercely resisted British advances through challenging terrain and skilled combat. Despite bravely defending their territory, Nepal ultimately lost and signed the Sugauli Treaty, ceding some land but maintaining independence in internal affairs. The war highlighted Nepal’s resilience and led to the recruitment of Gorkhas into the British Army, fostering a legacy of martial valor.
