Angle Classification System
The Angle Classification System is a method used by orthodontists to categorize how the upper and lower teeth align when the jaws are closed. It mainly looks at the position of the upper first molars to determine if the bite is normal, or if there’s a slight or significant misalignment. The system classifies these in three categories: Class I (normal bite), Class II (overbite where upper teeth significantly overlap lower teeth), and Class III (underbite where lower teeth are prominent). This system helps in planning effective orthodontic treatment tailored to each individual's specific bite issues.
