Angiotensin Receptor Blockers

Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs) are medications used to lower blood pressure and protect the heart. They work by blocking a substance in your body called angiotensin II, which normally narrows blood vessels and raises blood pressure. By preventing angiotensin II from doing this, ARBs help relax and widen the blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow and reducing the workload on the heart. They are often prescribed for conditions like hypertension, heart failure, and kidney protection, and are generally well-tolerated with fewer side effects compared to some other blood pressure medicines.
