Angioplasty and Stenting Procedures

Angioplasty is a medical procedure used to open narrowed or blocked blood vessels, often caused by plaque buildup. A thin tube, called a catheter, is inserted into the blood vessel and guided to the blockage. A small balloon at the tip is inflated to widen the vessel. Sometimes, a stent—a tiny mesh tube—is placed to keep the vessel open. These procedures help restore blood flow, reduce chest pain, and lower the risk of heart attacks. They are commonly performed for patients with coronary artery disease and are usually minimally invasive.
